I agree with Austin F. I thought this book would be one of those ones where after the first feew chapters I would be able to figure out exactly what was going to happen and who was going to win the Hunger Games. But I have no idea on any of these. This book is so supencefull that it makes for a good entaining read.

So far I think this is a great book. It has a lot of action, adventure and suspense. I don’t normally read books but this book is really good. I hope I’m able to finish it in the time we have left and if I don’t I might actually check it out at the library.

I have read this book for about a week now and it has really grabbed my imagination and my mind making me wondering what will happen next in the book. The book is based on districts of 1-12 and a guy and a girl is chosen from each district to play in the hunger games and can be watched by the districts on tv.

I didn't really understand exactly how the districts work. The districts are assigned according to where you live, right? But I don't understand why they said the female host of the Hunger Games would probably be happy to be out of district 12. Maybe I'm just missing what the Districts are based on?

I agree with you that this is a very interesting novel. Do you know why the Hunger Games started? I know It's for entertainment so the rich can enjoy some action, but why would someone think of a day that all of the people living in poverty can dread, and make young children fight to the death, when they still have a lot of life to live? It's sad.

to reply to other blogs ppeople are wondering why the hunger games started and it is a way to show an end to the fighting and peace between the other districts but other than that they never do say how or what caused them to start or who started it but it is a law to have the games each year and there can only ever be one winner.

So far Ive thaught this has been a pretty good book, The setting is in the future rite where North America used to be in a place now called Panem. Their are 12 diatricts surrounding the Panem. The 1st disctrict is the wealthiest then from their it only gets poorer until 12 and its the poorest. Katniss Everdeen the main character lives in district 12 she hunts and gathers food for her family every day. Her district is verry poor. She hunts and gathers with her guy friend Gale.

The setting is in the future, I'm guessing because it is called Panem and it used to be North America. In Panem there is 12 Districts and one Capitol. Each district is in order from wealthiest to poorest. District 12 is the poorest. That were the 2 main characters, Katniss and Gale, that have been introduced live. Since they live in District 12 it effects them a lot. Katniss and Gale have to sneak out of District 12 to go into the woods to hunt. They do this because their district is so poor, and they need to do this to provide food for both of their families.

One of the main characters of the "Hunger Games" is Katniss Everdeen. She is from District 12 which means her family and her are pretty poor and struggle. She is emotionally/mentally/physically strong, caring, and loving. She goes out into the woods almost everyday and risks her life to bring home food for her family. Her little sister is also a main character. Her name is Prim, and she's almost the only thing Katniss talks about. Prim is a young, sweet, innocent girl. Katniss's bestfriend, Gale, is also a main character. He goes out to the woods every time Katniss does too. He is caring and cares a lot about her. There was also a character that was being introduced, but I didn't make it far enough to get his name. I think he will be a main character though.

Katniss is the main character, she is sixteen years old. She is a very skilled hunter, she has to sneak out of the district and go out into the woods to hunt for food. She has little emotions because she doesnt want to show any weakness and to keep her out of trouble. Katniss prefers the bow and I believe she will use one to help her win the Hunger Games. She is a strong person, she is only sixteen and she is able to keep her mother and sister alive by finding food and trading in the black market. Katniss is caring because she volunteered as tribute for her sister to fight in the Hunger Games.

Katnis, the main character, is a teenage girl whose father dies when she is a kid. She is forced to take care of her mother and her little sister. Her world is separated into districts. Each year they have an event called the hunger games. Two kids from each district are chosen to compete in the hunger games. When they picked the names Katnis’s sister got picked; however, Katnis volunteered as tribute for her sister. The hunger games is a fight to the death between all the districts. The setting is in the city “The Capital” where Katnis and another boy chosen from her district are training to try to win the hunger games. If I had to adapt to Katnis’s setting I feel like life would be a lot harder, and completely different from life as I know it today.

Katniss Everdeen is the main character in the Hunger Games and this book is about a world that has 12 districts and each district has a Representative to fight in the annual Hunger Games. In order to survive for her family she has to hunt in the woods which is not allowed but she does it anyway because her family couldn't survive without her supplying the food. Katniss sister Prim gets picked to fight in the Hunger Games but Katniss volunteers because she knows her 12 year old sister cannot fight in the games.

The setting affects the thoughts and feelings of the characters in this book in many ways. When they are at the reaping the setting creates suspense for the kids that could be chosen to fight in the games. Another setting that affects the thoughts and feelings is when Katniss and Peeta are in their fire suits. This created excitement for the people watching the games and for Katiness and Peeta i believe it gave them a little bit of hope. Also when they are in training

The setting affects the main character, Katniss Everdeen, by having her live in a poor district ruled by a cruel central government called The Capitol. The time is hundreds of years in the future after a great war left the world in ruins and after one of the 13 districts rebelled and was destroyed, this creates a post-apocalyptic setting for her to live in. She lives in District 12, a coal mining district, where the rules are a little more relaxed but they still live in poverty. She grew up being poor and has resorted to breaking the rules by leaving the district to hunt for animals to sell and eat; she provides for her family because her father died in a coal mining accident. Then she volunteered herself for her sister in the Hunger Games, a punishment and show of power by the Capital. Where 2 tributes from each district fight each other to the death as retribution for the failed rebellion by the districts many years ago.

I feel that Nat’s explanation on how the setting affects the characters in Suzanne Colins’ “The Hunger Games” is great because of how he describes the setting and the back story of the book. He also describes why there are children fighting in these games. Katniss’ back story is also very well done.

In Suzanne Colins’ “The Hunger Games”, the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth, but more specifically a post-apocalyptic America. The setting more specifically is post-apocalyptic forms of the United States of America, renamed to Panem, taking place in the year 74 ADD, where the government is feared and very in control. The setting affects the characters because the fact that the government wants to be feared is the whole reason why the Hunger Games are taking place to begin with. My reaction if I had to adapt to this setting would probably be along the lines of going insane and wishing I was never born because it’s a terrible society to be living in when they make 12-18 year olds fight to the death on live television.

In the setting of District 12, they live in a very poor area in the woods. The setting effects Katniss’s actions because she faces killing other animals to eat; she has the responsibility to feed her family, she does not have a lot at all, they live very poor. They are lucky if they get any food at all, she has to face tough choices on surviving, she has to think for herself and her family. I would be very scared having to adapt to this kind of environment because they have to kill animals, fight for food, and live very poor with very little, they don’t even shower. I could never live like that.

The setting in the beginning of the book affects the character in mays ways. The district that she was in has a big effect on the way she lives. She has to hunt to feed her family because of the lack of money that the family has. She also has to watch what she says about the district because the capitol could punish her and her family. Another setting that affects the character is when she is trying to get sponsors. The people in the crowd are very judgmental and if she presents herself in a bad way then she will not get sponsors. Adapting to the characters environment would be hard because of the struggle to survive in the district that she is in.

Parks 4 In the Hunger Games there are 12 districts all the districts are in harsh environments. There is hardly any food. People scream is joy for a peace of bread. This affects thoughts and choices because they will do anything for survival. If I was in this environment I would do anything to keep my family from starving. I would set up traps in the woods to catch food. The people in the district are stuck in there but I would finally had enough and make a run through the woods to escape. I would come back with guns and supplies to come save my family.

The setting of The Hunger Games at the beginning is in district 12 where Katniss lives. In district 12 they are preparing for the annual Hunger Games which takes place every year because of a rebellion in Panem. This setting definitely affects Katniss because district 12 is the poorest district out of all the districts which causes the people who live there to work harder in order to survive the extreme conditions. If Katniss would have grown up in a richer district then she wouldn't have be able to have acquire the skills necessary like using a bow and arrow, hunting, etc. to survive or succeed in the Hunger Games. If I was in her position I feel like growing up in this setting would definitely help me be able to survive longer in the Hunger Games. I think Katniss is lucky to live in such a poor environment

The book takes place in the future. The country is called Panem and is located in North America. Panem is ruled by a king which controlled all of Panem. Panem is split up into 13 districts and one capital. The districts are very poor and week compared to the capital, and the 13th district was destroyed for trying to rebel. The characters in the book are forced to support unjust laws and events such as the Hunger Games. If I were forced to adapt to the characters environment I would be forced to live like all the other civilians despite of the fear I would have from the rulers.

She lives in the worst of them. She struggles to make it through everyday. Hunting with a bow is her life. Every year there is annual Hunger Games. This is a fight til the death held in a arena with two children from each district. They chose Katniss' sister as tribute. Katniss was terrified for her sister. So herself volunteered as tribute. To save her sister. I could never live in such a harsh environment and survive. Fighting for life everyday. I would not be able to do it.

This district is the poorest with bad conditions out of all 12 districts so it will be harder for her to make a living in. Katniss has to hunt for food to provide resources for her family. A conflict in the Hunger Games is when Katiness Everdeens sister was chosen during the reaping to participate in the Hunger Games. Katiness did not want her 12 year old sister fighting in an arena to the death with 24 other people so she volunteered herself in place for her sister. Another conflict Katiness has is trying to find food for her family every day. If Katiness doesnt go hunting for food then her family wont eat. Another conflict Katiness has is she doesnt want to talk to Peeta because she finds him as a threat.

The main conflict in the book The Hunger Games is twenty four tributes must fight to their death in an arena and the last one to survive, wins many prizes for their district. Katniss is one of the two tributes from her district, she gets a couple of days to train and then she is put into an arena to fight. Each tribute must wait sixty seconds to start, if they start early landmines will blow them up. In the middle of the arena their is a cornucopia, where their is a lot of weapons and supplies the tributes can use. Many of the tributes fight for weapons and begin killing each other right off the bat. Katniss tries to grab a bag, but another tribute tries to take it from her. Then the tribute falls over dead with a knife in his back. A girl threw a knife at him and then tries to kill Katniss. Katniss runs into a near by woods and uses her bag to block the incoming knife that is thrown at her. She manages to escape into the woods and she begins looking for a water source.

The conflict in the Hunger Games is when Katniss volunteered for her sister during the reaping. This is a conflict because Katniss basically provided everything for her family and she was afraid with her not there, that Prim and her mother would starve. She also did not think she would be the one to survive out of the other 23 people in the Hunger Games. Before the reaping she told Gale she did not want Prim going out to the woods or hunting. So Gale would have to hunt for both his and her family. Prim and her mother would have to find some things to trade Gale for the meat he brings them.

I disagree with the actions the behavior and actions of Katniss towards Peeta. Peeta is Katniss’s partner in the hunger games. Since Katniss found out that Peeta was her partner she has been really mean to him. When Katniss was almost killed Peeta saved her life; however, Katniss doesn’t believe that Peeta would actually save her. She thinks that Peeta is just putting on an act. I suggest that she should stop being mean to Peeta and start using him as an ally to help him get her through the Hunger Games. I believe that the reason for Katniss’s behavior is that she actually likes and cares about Peeta, but doesn’t want to admit it to herself or anyone else.

I disagree with how Katnis is acting. She shuts everyone out. Especially Peeta. She thinks Peeta is planning on killing her in the arena. But all he does is treat her with respect, even when they weren’t a part of the hunger games. Then Peeta releases feelings for Katnis at the interviews before the Hunger Games start. Peeta and Haymitch say it was a good idea to make the audience love them. But Katnis thinks it is to make her weaker towards Peeta. Katnis has a lot of talent. But it may not be enough to keep her alive. I suggest Katnis accepts Peeta and gets along with him. Only to benefit herself. If Katnis has Peetas help in the games, they both can survive.

I disagree with Peetas actions when he joins the alliance with some of the other people in other districts. He joined there alliance because he thought he had a better chance to win but really they were just using him. I don't understand why he would join that alliance to help them kill Katniss. I believe he should have never joined an alliance because sooner or later someone is bound to turn on you when you’re not looking. I believe joining an alliance in the Hunger Games is a huge risk, sometimes I believe Peeta doesn’t think about what he is doing. When Peeta went to finish off that girl by the fire his alliance was thinking about killing him right there so you know they’re going to attempt to kill him sooner or later.

I disagree with Katniss actions towards Peeta. I think she is being very selfish and it is unnecessary to shut Peeta out and be that rude to him. They are supposed to be partners and truly i think Katniss likes Peeta and doesn’t want anyone to find out about they’re secret relationship. Katniss should be helping Peeta because during the games they will need each other and if Katniss was mean to him, then he won’t help her and who knows that might mean life or death. Katniss I think will soon find out how much she truly likes Peeta and begin to be nice to him and treat him with respect.

I disagree with Katniss’s actions to pretend to be in love with Peeta because it might lead to issues later on in the story. She is acting that way because Haymitch has told them to pretend to be in love to get sponsers. They are supposed to kill each other in the Hunger Games and having a connection might lead one of them to break the rules of the Hunger Games. A preferable behavior would be to not associate with him and act entirely alone as to not have any issues in the games though sponsors would be hard to find.

Peeta is a character whose actions and behavior shocked me. The reason being is because Peeta joined the careers; in district 12 all the people hated the career districts, and when Peeta joined the careers it was like a slap in the face to his district. But then when Cato tried to kill Katniss, Peeta saved her which is an action that shocked me because the author made me think that Peeta was now against Katniss, but he wasn’t. Peeta is a character that is full of surprises and you never really know what to expect from him.

In Suzanne Colins’ “The Hunger Games”, Katniss Everdeen who is a participant in the Hunger Games for District 12 has many values and behaviors. Some of her values include being true and faithful to people and or their districts. Katniss’ behavior is very strange at some moments, including her behavior when she locked herself in her room at the Capitol and when she smashed the plates on ground because of how she felt. She likes to put her anger out rather than hold it in. I think Katniss is acting that way because she doesn’t know how else to act/feel. I feel that taking her anger out on someone or something in most situations is a bad way to deal with anger because doing that can result in serious consequences. I would suggest that Katniss talks to someone about her anger rather than take it out on someone or something.

I disagree with Katniss’s actions. She is shutting people out, she thinks she has to be tough all the time, and not let people care for her. Peeta is trying to help her, but she won’t let him, they obviously care about each other, but she won’t admit it. Katniss needs to learn to let people in to her circle and let people help and care for her. Peeta is only trying to help, since he is her partner in the Hunger Games, she needs to treat Peeta with the respect he deserves. I believe she’s acting mean to him because she truly likes him, but is too afraid to admit it.

I disagree with the decision that Katniss made to try and help Peeta in the middle of the hunger games. Peeta is severely hurt, and on top of that he is also sick. It makes it harder for her because she has to hunt for food to feed the both of them and care for him. He is just weighing her down and lowering her chances of her own survival. Another reason I disagree with this decision is in the beginning of the games Peeta joined up with the careers and they were trying to find and kill Katniss, so I find it weird that she still trusts him.

Catness is the main character I don’t agree with everything she does. She is scared for her life and that can alter someone’s decision. She is in a game to the death so she has to make very smart decisions. She has to decide if she wants to trust the people around her. On top of that she knows only one person from the games comes out alive. I see that this is very wrong any of her friends can just kill her when she is sleeping. I think she should just get water and hide in a tree until the games are over.

Katniss made the decision to save Peeta during the hunger games. I believe it was good idea because it keeps the game hosts and audience entertained, and the longer Katniss and Peeta are safe from any destruction the game makers make they can out last the other contestants. The game host gave an announcement announcing that you can team with another contestant from your district. As a result she went looking for Peeta only to find he badly injured and sick. Although it seems like he may not make it she decides to stay and help him as much as possible. This was a good response since its keeping the audience entertained and keeping her honor back home.

I disagree with this because all Peeta is doing is slowing Katniss down. He has no knowledge of hunting or gathering for food. Along with the fact that he has an injury and is now sick because of it means Katniss can’t leave him alone because she has to care for him.

Katniss decided to find peeta after the game makers changed the rules. The new rule is that two tributes can win as long as they are from the same district.
i think it wasn´t the smartest decision because now she has to stay with peeta who is seriously injured. Without him she could kill the others and win. But now she is easy prey because Peeta cant move and she has to stay with him to protect him. Of course I can see how she think it can help her since she probably has more sponsors now but I think she could make it without being sponsored too.

I really dont disagree with any of Katniss' actions, values, behavior. Katniss is a very loving, caring, smart young woman. With a very bright future ahead. Katniss was taught by her family and learned from experiences that she has had. To become such a great inspiration. There isnt anything wrong with. Everything about it is great. I would suggest people to look up to Katniss and her decisions.

What I think the biggest conflict in The Hunger Games is Peeta and Katnis. The audience believes they are in love. But they are not quite sure what to think of one another. Katnis tries to ignore everyone in the arena. But Peeta has a pack of people her stays with to go against other people. Once Katnis is found by Peetas pack, peeta saves her from them by telling her to run away. Now Katnis should know Peeta isn’t after her. But in the end, there will only be one person standing. And nobody knows who it will be.

I think the biggest conflict in the Hunger games is the way their world works. The capital encourages violence which is the reason behind the hunger games. Kids are randomly chosen from each district to fight each other to the death. The hunger games creates multiple conflicts for Katniss and Peeta. The two young tributes are forced to act like they’re in love so that the audience likes them and helps them get through the games. A way to resolve all these conflicts is for the capital to stop forcing these violent games and broadcasting them for the world to see. My reaction to the conflict is that is makes me glad to live in the world I live in today and not a world like Katniss and Peeta live in.

I think a major conflict in this book was when Katniss and Peeta were the only ones left in the Games and they knew they had to fight to the death because they were the last ones left in the Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta love each other to much too kill each other and decide to kill themselves but as soon as their about to proceed with doing this the rule maker of the games says wait and crowns them both king and queen and they're considered star cross lovers. This could change the plot forever because now the Hunger Games can be won by more than just one person.

The main conflict in the Hunger Games is when they enter the arena and they know that there on their own now. They now have to defend their selves from the other people that are competing in the Hunger Games. The conflict isn’t just with one person it’s with all of the other competitors. When the games began my reaction was scarred and afraid for them because it was life or death for them. It was very intense and the only way they could solve it was to stay alive and win the games. This book is very intense and there are many conflicts. I can’t wait to read the rest to see the conflicts that have yet to come.

The setting of this story is gloomy and very scary and it affects the characters by making them depressed and scared. District 12 is one of the worst and miserable districts to live in. The time and event affects the characters mood and attitude. When they go into the arena the characters are scared and desperate for survival. The when they finally get out their mood is triumphant. The setting is one of the main effects of the character and can greatly change the story. Throughout this book the mood is mostly sad and despondent; therefore, until the end, is mostly a glum mood.

Katniss Everdeen is a strong, resourceful sixteen-year-old who is far more mature than her age would suggest. Katniss is the main provider in her family. Katniss is fiercely protective of her younger sister, and she volunteers to take Prim’s place in the Hunger Games to protect her. She is responsible for feeding her family. Hunting, however, is illegal and punishable by death. Katniss does it anyway, indicating a rebellious streak in her. Katniss realized that, without her hunting, her family wouldn’t have enough to eat, a serious problem in District 12, where starvation is common. Ironically, the hardships she faced as a result of her impoverished upbringing wind up working to her advantage once she’s in the arena. During the weeks over which the Games occur, Katniss’s character does not fundamentally change. She does not begin to seek attention once she becomes a celebrity and begins doing television interviews. Rather, she always tries to figure out how to get through the interviews so she can go back to her life. The Hunger Games similarly do not turn her into an unfeeling killer, and the only times she kills she does so out of necessity, and to some degree in Cato’s case, pity. Furthermore, before the Games, she has little interest in boys and is instead focused on her responsibilities, and though she develops feelings for Peeta and becomes aware of feelings for Gale during the Games, romance remains a peripheral interest for her at the end of the novel. She maintains her sense of identity and integrity.

When the Hunger Games begin, she faces several challenges such as hallucinations, almost dying of thirst, and being the immediate target of other tributes because of her skills. Katniss meets Rue, an 11-year-old girl from District 11. They become allies. Rue dies this part is so important because it changes Katniss's perspective. Before, all she wanted to do was win, but now that her good friend was murdered, she wants to shame the capital for ever making these games. She nicely places flowers around Rue's body before the Hovercraft comes to take her body away. She finds him injured the next afternoon. She has a bad cut in his upper leg. After Katniss does his best to patch him up, hey continue on. Battling sickness, more injuries, and even other tributes on the way, it ends with the two of them. Conflict of all of the injuries and perspective change. I was really surprised that they created a great alliance and won.

There are a wide range of conflicts that take place in this book. Starting with the selection of Katniss's sister as a tribute for the Hunger games. Because of her love for her sister she decides to take her place but puts herself in an almost certain death sentence. To make things worse the other district tribute is Peeta. A boy the same age as her and has helped her in the past. Katniss feels like she has an everlasting debt to him and can't imagine the inevitable reality that she might have to kill him. As the story progresses they form an ever closer bond and feelings start to emerge. They fight for their lives and fight against the odds but in the end nothing is what it seems. The main conflict though is the fight for survival and the relationship that forms between the two main character.

There are many conflicts in this book, starting with Katniss really had to take care of and find food for her whole family, after her father passed away. The most important conflict in this book is Katniss volunteers herself to be in the hunger games, this effects the whole plot of the story, she’s risking her life. When she’s doing this she starts falling for Peeta, a guy that is supposed to be enemy for the hunger games. The most important conflict in this book is the fights at the Hunger Games; it’s the most important because that’s what the story was named after and what Katniss volunteers for. The Hunger Games are when 2 tributes, a boy and a girl, from each of the 12 districts are put in an arena to fight each other to the death for the Capitals amusement and to show that the Capitol still has power over them. It’s the entire premise of the story and therefore it’s the most important conflict in the story. My reaction to this is that it’s a brutal way of keeping the Districts in check. I think the main conflict of the book is Katniss having to participate in the Hunger Games. If Katniss never had to go to the Hunger Games she wouldn’t have had any of the problems that happen later on in the book; some examples of these problems are the following: Katniss saw her friend Rue die, she got a severe burn on her thigh, and she had to fake being in love with Peeta to survive, those are just a few there are many more. The Hunger Game therefore is the biggest conflict in the story.

One of the most important conflicts in the book is the relationship between Peeta and Katniss. They are playing the whole act of loving each other for the viewers of the games and in the process they start to become friends. When they get into the arena and days start to pass Katniss starts to worry about Peeta and his safety and also thinking about the possibility of having to kill him. This is important to the plot because it creates a sense of mystery in the story because you don’t know if this friendship will affect the combat in the arena.

In Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games”, the main conflict in the book is that there are 24 people fighting to the death in order to survive and return to their families at home. In the beginning of the games, several people are slaughtered at the Cornucopia and their lives are ended just like that and they will return to their families at home, but in a coffin. This is important to the plot because the book revolves around it and is even titled after it. My reaction to this is probably “Thank God I am not in this post-apocalyptic version of my country because life would be absolutely horrible especially if I lived in a high number district”.

I believe the most important conflict is when catness is running from 5 people trying to kill her. She had to hide in a tree. They waited her out she slept in the tree all night thinking about when she will make a run for it. She went to sleep for an hour then woke back up. She looked across to the other tree she saw rue the 11 year old tribute. There was a nest of wasps in the tree so she thought of dropping it on the 5 tributes sleeping on the floor. So she sawed off the nest and made it out safe.

I disagree with this because when she climbed up the tree and saw Rue I wouldn’t say that was a conflict. By meeting Rue she learned some of the plants in the forest and Rue even cured her stings. So in the long run it was actually beneficial for her to have climbed that tree and find Rue.

I disagree with that because her running away from the 5 tributes forced her to climb that tree which led to forming an alliance with Rue. The only conflict that really happened was when she dropped the tracker jackers nest on top of them, but that wasn’t even really a ploy to kill them it was just meant for a diversion that ended up working better then she thought.

The biggest conflict in the book is the hunger games its self. Katniss is forced to do things she doesn’t want to do along with the majority of the tributes. From the reaping to the death of Cato the entire hunger games has been one big conflict between Katniss and herself, the capitol and the districts, and the districts vs the districts. In my opinion the districts shouldn’t take part in the games. They should fight the district for their rights and independence. The main reason I reacted this way has mostly to do with the difrences between the districts and the capitol. The people of the districts are treated like trash and controlled by the capitol while the people of the capitol are pampered and spoiled.

The theme of the Hunger Games is survival of the fittest. Katniss is one of the tributes from district twelve that has to fight to the death in an arena. She is determined to do what ever it takes in order to get back to district twelve and help her sister have enough to eat to survive. In the start of the Hunger games Katniss grabs a backpack and runs into the woods in order to escape the other twenty three tributes who are all trying to kill each other and get to the cornucopia in the middle of the arena. Katniss has to tie herself to a tree so she can stay hidden while she sleeps and she also, uses her tree climbing skills to climb a tree and drop a wasp hive on a group of tributes that are trying to kill her. she then drops down from the tree and retrieves a bow from one of the tributes that died from the wasps.

The theme for The Hunger Games does mean something to me. The theme is never give up even if in the end, you may not win. Katnis is so negative about herself and her district in the arena. For example, she expects her district to loose only because her and Peetas district has never won. Even though Katnis doesn’t expect to win, she still tries as hard as she can. She hasn’t given up on herself or Peeta. And as for Peeta, he never thought he would win the hunger games. He wants Katnis to win for their distict. During the story the man running the games announces that there can be two winners, only if they are from the same district. In that case, Katnis knows Peeta is still alive and decides to trust him so they can win together. Katnis and Peeta won’t give up on each other and want to win together.

The theme for the Hunger Games is, live life to the fullest, love your family while you can because you never know when it’s going to end. This is important to the book because if you are picked to play in the Hunger Games you may never see your family or friends ever again. Because of this you want to love them while you can and live life to the fullest because you only live once (YOLO). When Prim tells Katniss, you better try in in the Games I think it gave Katniss the drive to win and come back to her family. Family should mean a lot to people, and always live life like it’s your last day to live it.

During the Hunger Games Katniss will have to overcome many obstacles for instance she has to sit in a tree all night while the other members of the games teamed up together and tryed to kill her first because they knew if they killed her the games would be easy because she was easily the best fighter in the Hunger Games. Katniss has to learn to survive in situations like this and she does which applies to the theme survival of the fittest. A theme of the Hunger Games is that sometimes appearance can be very important. In the hunger games the way you look, act, and present yourself can make or break you. Cena is in charge of creating a look for Peeta and Katniss. He decides to keep to the coal theme of district 12; however, he spices it up. Cena creates a name for Katniss “the girl on fire.” If Cena wouldn’t have created this image for district 12, I don’t think Katniss and Peeta would have got as far as they did. In the book Cena says “I think that coal miner thing’s very overdone, no one will remember you in that”(page 66). This quote shows that it is very important to be rememberable. Another quote that shows image is important is when Cena yells at Peeta and Katniss to hold hands. It creates the image that they are a team. Out of all the factors put in to winning the hunger games I think Image is most important.

The setting in the hunger games has a terrifying effect on some people in this book. The setting changes you into a killer, but it doesn't you will die because in these games it is a life or death situation, so you can either be hunter or hunted; the prey or the predator. If I was in that situation I rather be the predator, but I would also be scared for my life also. I would react like that because I would be terrified for my life and death because there to many things I did not get to do in my life to die now.

I believe one of the greatest themes in this book is you can accomplish anything you sent your mind to. Katniss gets put in a terrible situation in the dome and she has to thoroughly set her mind to conquer the evil and kill all the other players. She also has to save her lover and admirer in the meantime also. Even though it seemed impossible, she got motivated, set her mind to it, and achieved her victory and came out on the top. It can be tough to get the will power to overcome your own troubles. But in this book Katniss and many other characters need to.

There are a few themes that are in the Hunger Games. The easiest to see is survival. The tributes fight against each other and the elements to survive the games. And the citizens of the districts fight to survive their daily lives where. A further look could focus on human rights and equality of citizens. Citizens of the Capitol have every luxury and do not have to choose tributes to fight in the games. And the districts who normally win the games are rewarded with regular supplies. Other districts, like Katniss's District 12, are constantly faced with difficulties.

One of the actions that I disagree with in the book “Hunger Games” is when Peeta joins an alliance with the career tributes. Instead of listening to his mentor telling him that he should get out of there as quick as possible, and to get near water as fast as he could, but he did not listen. I think the reason why Peeta choose that action because he thought he had better a chance by joining an alliance because he can’t hunt or track anything like Katniss can, but he can fight though. After the career tributes kill Katniss they plan on killing Peeta. The reason the career hasn’t killed Peeta yet is because they need his help to find Katniss. Katniss and Peata’s rebellious attitude toward the capitol sparked the eventual rebellion of the districts. A theme that is meaningful to me in the book is no matter how hard things may seem you have to stay strong. In the book Katniss faced a lot of hardships in the Hunger Games, but she always stayed strong and never gave up even when she felt like she was going to break. Also Katniss was always thinking of a way to get out of a sticky situation and if she didn’t stay strong in those situations then she could’ve been one of the tributes that ended up dying in the end. Katniss definitely needed to stay strong in order to survive.

In Suzanne Collins’, “The Hunger Games”, the theme is that you should stand up for what you believe in and what you feel is right. This theme is meaningful to me because that is a very true thing to do (stand up for what you believe in) and that everyone should do it. It’s important in the book, because if Peeta and Katniss had not have stood up to the government of Panem and the game makers then one or both of them would have died. Another way they stood what they believed in was when Katniss gave Rue a makeshift funeral.

The theme of the Hunger Games is the inequality between the rich and the poor. One example of this is the drawings for the games. In poor districts you have a much bigger chance of getting chosen because most poor families have to get tessera’s so they can get the food they need to surive, but by doing this your name is entered more times for the drawing. Another example of this theme is the tributes themselves. Katniss says that the tributes from districts 1, 2, and 3 are trained for the games and are bigger than the rest of the other tributes. With this advantage the poor tributes are more likely to die before the rich tributes do.

The theme of The Hunger Games is, Revolt is sometimes necessary. In the book Katniss is forced to take part in the 75 Hunger Games, but throughout the games she does things that sparks a revolt and eventually leads to the districts independence. The games were designed to destroy all hope of the districts but katniss does things in the arena to make the people of the districts feel more hopeful and rebellious. In the arena a girl named Rue died but instead of Katniss just leaving her body and moving on she sings to her lets her die gracefully, that has never been done before and the capitol doesn’t like it. At the end of the book the only people left were Katniss and Peata. There was a rule change that if you were from the same district you could partner up and there would be two victors; however at the end of the games that rule was revoked. So as their final act Katniss and Peata decide to commit suicide instead of kill each other. Right before they do it although, the revoke was revoked.

The setting of ' The Hunger Games' , is in the arena where the games occur each year. This setting is very important to the book because this is where all the action takes place. The main characters in the novel are Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. They are from a poor town in the city of Panem. Katniss is a brave, strong woman whose sister was chosen for the games. Katniss volunteered herself so her sister didn't have to go. Peeta is a strong boy who works at bakery in the town who was chosen for the games. These characters are developing rapidly in this famous novel.

The setting of the Hunger games is in a post apocalyptic North America. Most of the book takes place in an arena where kids have to fight to the death with other kids. It is the way the capital keeps the twelve districts in check. There are two main characters Katniss and Peeta. Katniss is a great hunter and she is amazing with a bow. She has been feeding her family since she was twelve when her father died. And there is Peeta and he is a great artist. He can paint his body to blend into his surroundings. He is also a crowd favorite dew to his open personality.

The setting of The Hunger Games is Panem. A country where the present day United States is. It is a dystopia where everyone was divided into 13 districts and the Capitol, but eventually a rebellion broke out which led to the destruction of the 13th district and the creation of the Hunger Games. This is important as everyone outside of the Capitol isn’t well off and they can’t do a thing. The main characters are Katniss Everdeen and Peeta. Katniss is a teenager who has to hunt illegally to support her family after her father died which left her mother in shambles. This shows she is strong and she is also been shown to be caring for the people she loves. Peeta is a baker who gave Katniss bread several years ago when she was starving. He has shown to care and doesn’t feel that he can win the Hunger Games so he is trying to do everything he can to make Katniss win.

From what I have read so far in the Hunger Games. It takes place in a possible future north America where there are 13 districts surrounding the capital district in the center which is the government. Some time ago all the districts banded together to overthrow the government but failed. 12 districts defeated In response, the capital issued a new law. Every year 2 people in each district one boy and one girl will be raffled off as tributes and are sent to the capital. They are to fight to the death in the arena and the last one standing lives the rest of their life in comfort. The story follows Katniss Everdeen who is a resident in district 12. Starvation is very common in district 12 so Katniss breaks the law and goes into the woods to hunt for food to feed her family.

The setting of The Hunger Games is in an arena (Panem) Every year each a boy & a girl are picked from each district. (13 districts) It isn't an actual place the government made it up, they have people controlling whats going to happen next. The main characters in the novel is Katniss & Peeta. Katniss has some skills in hunting. She hunts to support her family after her fathers death. To me this tells me that she is a very strong person who never gives up. Peeta works at a bakery, he saw Katniss one day & gave her bread. To me this shows me that Peeta is a caring person.

The setting of my novel is in a country called Panem, or a present day of the United States. In this country, everyone has been divided into thirteen separate districts, based on how wealthy you are. There is also one Capitol, which has total control over all of the districts. The characters so far live in the poorest district, and everyone in the district is barely surviving, or as Katniss says in the book “District twelve, where you can starve to death in safety.”
According to what I have read so far the main character is Katniss Everdean, who has a little sister named Prim. Katniss also has a very good friend named Gale. Her and Gale have been friends for a while, and do not like the Capitol. They are both adventurous, and are not afraid to break the rules. On the other hand Prim is very nervous about losing Katniss, she isn’t very independent like her big sister is.

The setting for the hunger games is in north America. There is 12 districts around the capital and the capital is the main area for the government. There was 13 districts until they tried to over throw the government. Now there is only 12 for 13 was destroyed in the attempted revolt and that's how the hunger games was created. Now one boy and one girl are picked as tribute from each district to fight to the death every year and the winner can live in luxury with their family for the rest of their life. The story fallows Katniss Everdeen and how she breaks the law by hunting for food for her family because of how common starvation is.

The internal conflict in the hunger games is between Katniss and Peeta. Peeta told the entire capital that he has had a crush on Katniss for ever since he can remember and Katniss does not know if she feels the same way or not. If she does feel the same way and wants to survive the games she might have to kill him. And the external conflict is that there are twenty three other tributes and Katniss must survive to get home but also if she does have feelings for Peeta she does not want to have to kill him.

An internal conflict in The Hunger Games is between Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. Peeta is in love with Katniss, and will die for her. It is ironic because they are in a place where they are supposed to kill eachother. Katniss is in love with another boy who lives in District 12. Katniss plays then role of loving him back, but she really does not. This hurts Peetas feelings and Katniss is stuck in a bind with no clue what to do. This affects Peetas chance to win because he had the chance to murder her already in the games but he showed her mercy. Katniss is determined to win at all costs.

An internal conflict Katniss is struggling with is knowing that she is going to have to kill Peeta. She doesn’t want to as the have become close in their time in the capitol, but she needs to see Prim again. Another confict she is having is being forced to kill other people for sport and having to kill a human for the first time. She also externally is dealing with the harsh conditions of the arena with hunger being a big issue as well as finding ways to stay warm while also remaining hidden from other tributes. There are also traps laid by the gamemasters to make everything more interesting.

In the book the Hunger games every year the capital raffles off 2 people from each district as tributes to fight to the death in the hunger games and the last one standing wins. Katniss Everdeens sister Prim is chosen as a tribute from district 12. Katniss volunteers in her place. Now she must do everything she can to survive the upcoming days in the arena. The closer to the games she gets the more unsure she is that she is going to win. She is good with a bow but will that be enough to survive the games?

In district 12 which is one of the main characters district, they are known for starvation which means theyre one of the poor districts so they really dont have food. Another conflict is when Katniss little sister gets picked to fight in the Hunger Games. Instead of her letting her sister fight she volunteered to take her spot. Now she has to fight and do everything she can to win & survive in the Hunger Games. She would be a better pick other than her sister because shes good at hunting & has much more confidence & knows what shes doing.

One main conflict going on in the book is the Capitol picking two kids from each district, one boy and one girl, go against each other in what is known as the Hunger Games. The whole battle is an example of an external conflict because they are fighting one another to stay alive. If they are the last person standing, they not only get to live but they get to bring home enough food supplies for their whole district. Katniss is also having some internal conflicts. She can not decide whether or not she likes her teammate/ enemy, Peta. She thinks that he is either up to no good and planning something against everyone else including her, or he is just being kind for the sake of being kind.

In The Hunger Games there is many conflicts, but I will be focusing on just a few. One problem is during the battle a groupe of tributes gang together to try killing the main character Katniss. This makes it very diffiult for Katness to survive. Another conflict is when Katniss and Peta are starving and need medicine to help heel peta, they will have to go through tough obstacles to get what they need, which puts Katniss life in danger. At the very end Katniss and Peta are the only two left and they have to find a way out without killing eachother. They decide to both killthemselves at the sametime, but right before they do, President Snow tells them that they can both win.

An internal conflict that Katniss Everdeen is faced with is that she might have to kill Peeta Mellark. That peeta had just told the people of Panem in an interview that he was in love with Katniss just before the hunger games had started. An external conflict is that she has to deal with the harsh conditions of the arena and the lack of water. Another one is the other tributes that are trying to hunt her down and kill her.
